There's fear circulating that fusion-powered transmutation—"Alchemy 2.0"— is going to mass-produce gold, destroying its scarcity and hence value. What makes it pernicious is that there's a grain of truth underlying the story: a few atoms of radioactive gold were the byproduct of a CERN experiment decades ago. What we have now is not a demonstration of this being done at scale, but some experiments that a California startup says demonstrate the pathway to gold "co-production." This isn't coming from a university or internationally recognized lab. Details of the experiments were not released. Just a YouTube video making grand claims.

This is like a junior exploration company no one has ever heard of before announcing the richest gold mine in history—with no drill results, no metallurgy, no mine plan, no feasibility study, or even a surface sample.

At the end, Michelle asked me for a gold forecast, knowing I wouldn't give her one... but I did tell her what would make me start buying again. See what you think.
