Canagold

Canagold was a promising explorer with what looked like a high-grade gold mine in the making at its New Polaris project. Exploration was extending the mineralization and discovering new parallel veins. Apparently, this wasn't good enough for some dissident shareholders who went hostile and forced management out, saying the old guard was advancing toward production too slowly. Sadly, new management has done even less on this front, and the stock has done even worse. I have no confidence in this team and sold when a recent pop in share prices on no news gave me a chance to get out with reduced losses. No sugar-coating this one; it has become one of the worst losses in my career. The takeaway for me is that the next time I own shares in a company that gets taken over by management I don't care for, I'll sell immediately, instead of holding on because I like the project.
